Champions league preview - part 1

Simply cannnot wait to hear that anthem !!! I am counting minutes at the office but time goes by so slowly... huhh. Cannot wait to go to local bar, order myself beer and watch the first game of this year UEFA Champions league with my friends.

FC Barcelona - AC Milan
It's the match between two most succesfull teams in last decade. On one side AC Milan who won the thropy in 2003 and 2007, and lost in Istanbul 2005 against Liverpool in most dramatic final in history of the competition and FC Barcelona on the other side. Winners in 2006, 2009 and 2011 are definitively biggest favourites and will try to become first team that manage to defend title after twenty years. They are young and still very hungry of titles and throphys. With signing Fabregas and Sanchez they further strenghten their midfield and attack, so only problem could be defense. Puyol was out of training for some time, Pique has some problems and he will miss this game, while Alves is much better in offensive tasks. Barcelona is big favourite in this match and big favourite to go all the way to finals. Milan on the other hand is limited team. They have average goalkeeper, weak defense with Nesta who is just a shadow of a player who used to be best defender in the world and fullbacks Abate and Zambrotta that dont bring confidence. Change Pirlo- Aquilani was bad move for AC Milan and honestly I dont understand it. Aquilani was solid player while he was playing in Roma but he couldn't find spot for himself neither in Liverpool and neither in Juventus, while Pirlo has experience but not too old (Milan has bunch of old players), he has magic passing ability and he played significant role both in club and national team for years.
Let's face it, Zlatan Ibramihović is the biggest strenght of this team and his abscence is irreplaceble. He had additional motive in this match against his former club because he wasn't in good relations with Guardiola and by some journalist was named one of the biggest transfer misses. Let's hope that he will be at disposal to his coach in rematch at San Siro. Conclusion, point in this match would be big as house for Milan.
First day brings us also two matches between german and england clubs. While Chelsea has big advantage in a home game against Bayer second pair is much more interesting. Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal are big clubs with great tradition but with problems at the start of domestic competions. Borussia with only 7 points from 5 easy matches and home defeat at weekend, while Arsenal lost home against Liverpool and was run over in Manchester. Without Fabregas and Nasri they are average team and it is very interesting to see how much credit Wenger has at clubs owners. He didnt bring thropy for 6 years and for club like Arsenal that is eternity.

Thats all for today... tomorrow another two favourites, Real Madrid and Man U, starts their path so I'll bring my opinion about them.

Let the games begin !!!
